Mexico Market Reform Offers New Electric Power Opportunities

ELECTRIC POWER is collaborating with the U.S.-Mexico Border Energy Forum to offer a 60-minute overview of power-sector market opportunities between the two countries. Join us on April 1 from 11:00 am – noon in the EP Theater on the exhibit floor of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

The Border Energy Forum is a collaborative effort among the 10 border states along the U.S.- Mexico border. It involves representatives from the federal governments of both Mexico and the United States, as well as state and local officials from both sides of the border. Also involved are private sector professionals  – energy producers and energy consumers – academics, researchers, and members of environmental groups.

Rapid population growth and expanding trade and commerce on both sides have attracted significant attention and investment in recent years. Mexico's Energy Reform of 2013 brings a new dynamic to the country's electric sector, and the potential for a continental perspective on electricity investments has never been more timely.

Soll Sussman, coordinator of the U.S.-Mexico Energy Border Forum, moderates our April 1 session. Invited to discuss Mexico-U.S. border market are include Dra. Lourdes Melgar Palacios, Subsecretaria de Electricidad, Secretaria de Energia; Erika Benson, Greenberg Traurig LLP; Bill Bojorquez, Hunt Power; and Miranda Ferrell Wainberg, Center for Energy Economics, University of Texas.

The session is open to all registered attendees at ELECTRIC POWER 2014.
