Veterans who are leaving military service frequently have skills that are readily transferrable to the power industry. Their sense of "mission" often matches well with our industry's need to deliver reliable power no matter the circumstances.
ELECTRIC POWER is introducing Veterans in Power, an initiative with PReP Intl., to share best practices for recruiting, training and retaining veterans in the workforce. VIP also will recognize outstanding power-sector efforts involving veterans by creating the Faraday Awards. This annual award will be presented at ELECTRIC POWER to investor-owned, independent, cooperative and municipal utilities that demonstrate excellence in veterans hiring programs.
Plan to attend the Faraday Awards presentation on the exhibit floor at ELECTRIC POWER from 4:30-5:45 pm on April 1, and hear awardees discuss their efforts.
Nominations for the Faraday Awards are still being accepted. To nominate an outstanding program, visit the Special Programs page at ELECTRIC POWER.
